I was pretty much overweight all my life but my weight skyrocketed once I went to college. Freshman 15 … more like Freshman/Sophomore 50+. It was terrible but I never realized how big I was until I look back on the pictures now. I always knew I needed to lose weight but I just never committed myself to it like I should have. Especially after my father passed from Diabetes (in 2007) I knew I should change my ways being that Diabetes runs on his side of the family. But still I didn't for a few more years. I would just keep making that same I'm going to lose weight New Years resolution.

You can see I pretty much skyrocketed in my weight my first year at college

Finally, In January 2010 I was going into my final semester in college and just didn't want to start my next chapter in life being so overweight and out of shape so I finally committed myself to becoming a better me. I think the best thing for me that kept me going the most is when people took note of my weight lost and complimented me. Sometimes you just feel so defeated when losing weight and just to have someone take note of your hard work makes you feel awesome. It made me feel good and allowed me to keep pushing forward. Also I have a small shopping problem so it felt awesome to shop and be able to pick up smaller sizes. I love fashion and finally I can wear clothes that I love and not just wish they made them in bigger sizes. I love food - mainly sweets - so I have my set backs but I have grown to love to workout and starting to LOVE to run (thanks to my running group - Black Girls Run) as well so I know that I won't ever revert back to my old ways of being so overweight and out of shape. Now I try to live by more of a 85/15 rule. 85% of the week I eat healthy 15% maybe not so much.
The highest weight I know I ever was, was 267lbs. I have lost over 100lbs and it feels surreal at times and absolutely amazing :-) I love this improved version of me and enjoy being healthy and fit! I am in the best shape of my life! I don't think I have been this small since - I DON'T EVEN KNOW! Still not done yet though :-) … so continue to follow along! If I can just inspire/motivate one person this blog will not be in vain!

Now let's get into the fun stuff!! My addictions includes working out, food ( especially sweets & trying to make them healthier by any means necessary), & fashion ( finding my own style & loving every minute of it!).
I want to become a yogi. I'm a beginner. But one day I will be great! I can feel it in my inflexible bones!
I am a runner and I want to run a marathon before I'm 30! At the rate I'm going there may be a possibility that it will happen within the next two years! I'm I signed up to do my first half marathon in February 2014 November 2013 and since then have completed 4 total.
I decided to stop perming my hair and go back to my naptural roots. Been officially natural since September 2011. As of this moment -- I have no regrets. I love my naps.
I was born to travel and I wish I had the expenses to travel the entire world. But I did get to leave the country and go to Europe for my 25th birthday!
Laughing makes me happy. I'm a goof ball. A sarcastic one.
Reading & Writing. Great past times.
I am from a place where the sun meets the shine. Florida!
Okay that's it. Before I let you go just want to get a few things straight. I'm not perfect! So don't expect me to be. I don't always eat healthy. I miss a few workouts. I complain - like a typical female - about my body. I am human. I am growing. I am me. I want to just be me and inspire others while doing just that. So join in on the fun I call life :-)

Alright lady :-).. You are very inspiring.. Please keep posting your meals so I can follow suit to a healthier me..THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reading! Appreciate it!!
DeleteI hope I can keep motivating and inspiring you
to be a healthier you!!!
Haha, you're such a comical writer!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!! :)
Deletecan you message me your e-mail? thanks girlie!
ReplyDeleteI ran across your page while on FB. Your story is very inspiring and I'm glad you have decided to share with the world! I also wanted to ask do you ever get bored working out by yourself cause I do but I still get it done;)I have a workout group that looks to me to keep going it gets hard because I sometimes don't wont too but I know I have too for them as well as myself. I am proud of you for pushing your way through.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! So glad you stopped by! I sometimes get bored when I workout indoors (I guess cause I'm alone?). Not too much when I'm in the gym (could be because other ppl are there and I pretend they are my imaginary friends lol).
DeleteI only having workout buddies when it comes to running. I like running with and without them. But I like having the support.
I think you're stuck in like a catch 22. It's could to be the leader but then it sucks if everyone is depending on you because you have no one to depend on kind of. That's also kind of why I didn't mind (when I was losing weight) not having a "workout buddy" because I don't like depending on ppl and I didn't want anyone depending on me. But the good thing having ppl depend on you is that you push harder to not let them down which can benefit you in the long run.
Really enjoyed reading your blog it is so inspiring. What's even more crazy is your story is my exact story from your family being motivation to having a starting weight of 267 (I have never said that aloud). I just started on weight watchers 12 weeks ago and I am down to 248. So I still have a long way to go but following your blog really inspires me. Plus you have an awesome personality and makes this journey feel more real! I look forward to reading more :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! So awesome that you can relate so much to my story! There was a time when I wouldn't say my highest weight either! Down almost 20lbs! That is fantastic! Long road ahead yes but definitely worth it. Stay focus, determined and dedicated and you will succeed! I try to be as honest and real as possible. I don't want ppl to think I'm perfect or that it was easy. It wasn't and it will always be a struggle to maintain my weight I think. But I want ppl to know that you can learn to love being fit and it can make you see yourself in a whole new light! Best of luck on your journey!!
DeleteSo inspiring. One picture tells a thousand story. So inspiring. I'd like to have you guest posting on my blog to tell about your success.
