My body has been yelling at me. Or more like kicking me in the
Turns out I am pretty sure I lifted too much. Monday afternoon my back started hurting. It didn't click then why but I soaked in some epson salt and it felt better. Not great but better. I continued on with my week. However, I woke up Wednesday and my knees and right foot (that foot is always bothering me - weakling of the pair lol) was aching me so I decided best thing was to not workout that day and rest and ice up. So I did and I also used a tennis ball to massage any tight muscles in the arch of my feet. I need to do that more often! Thursday I woke up feeling better but my foot still wasn't the best so I didn't do sprints for my cardio that day, I just did weight training. Figured I'd make up the sprints on Friday morning. Which I did. I woke up feeling great. Did my sprints and then that afternoon did my weight training workout.
My run was so great. 30 mins of sprints. 30 secs on 30 sec off. When I did them on Tuesday I was so over it because I was on a dreadmill and every 30 secs I had to change the speed. Friday I was outdoors and the weather was surprisingly nice even had a breeze and I had fun doing them.
Some of my sprints! |
Anyway I recall my back still feeling a little funny Friday while doing my workout but brushed it off.
Well my back had a surprise for me Friday night / Saturday morning. I could barely move. My lower back was killing me. The pain was really bad. At one point I am sure I wanted to cry. Partially because I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. I was suppose to get up saturday morning and go do another set of sprints before weight training but I decided it's time to take a couple days off before I really injure myself if I hadn't already. That is the scariest thought by the way. Thinking you may be injured.
So when morning rolled around I had a plan. I woke up and iced my back for 20 mins. Then I did 15 - 20 mins of yoga with moves specifically for the lower back. Then an hour or so later I went to the sauna and laid out for 20 mins. After that I went to Walgreens got me a back wrap and some ibuprofen.
Before I got home my back was feeling a little better. I think the sauna really helped. I could tell that it was more so my left side that was the problem. Felt extremely tight and tense. So when I got home I ate something then took the ibuprofen and about an hour later I used the back wrap. That really has been helping. I use it for 20-30mins every 2-3 hours. I woke up this morning in way less pain then the night before and slept much better.
How I've been living... |
Moral of this story: Listen to your body.
Yes it sucks that now I am behind on Livefit by 2 days.
& because I am going out of town thursday night until Monday I will be behind another 3 days.
I won't have time to do 2 hour workouts between partying, drinking, beyonce.
You know the whole fun thing I'm trying to do. LOL.
Don't worry I do plan to go running on the boardwalk!
So ultimately this will put me back a week.
But I'm okay with it. It's better than me getting injured and being out for weeks, months, or more!
How has your weekend been?
How good are you at listening to your body?
Do you workout on vacation? If so is it just quick 20 - 30 min workouts or normal possibly hour workouts?
xoxo, Preshii
