Monday I started my half marathon training. A week earlier than expected but I'm excited. Monday was a rest day (dubbed the foam roller / extra stretching day of my training weeks!) on the training schedule I'm using so my first run wasn't until Tuesday. A short and sweet 2 mile run. I was really happy with my pace average of 9:27!
Wednesday was a rest day. Each week consist of 2 - 3 rest days from running. Monday is a light rest day and it's suggested I walk and do some foam rolling. 7 out of the 12 wednesday's in this training are to be full on rest days. & Friday's can be rest or cross-train days depending on how my body is feeling!
Thursday was 2.5 mile run. I felt good. After the 1st mile I decided to really push myself and ended up almost completing mile 2 in 9 mins flat. After that push though I was beattt! I was excited also because I got to use my watch for the first time! It was so much better being able to look down at my arm and see how many miles I've done or my current pace. Much more convenient then my phone.
Friday, another rest day. Enjoying them!
Saturday was my first "long" run. 3 super duper longgg miles! I did 3.15. Call me an overachiever.
Today was another "sweet run" as I like to call 2 mile runs or less. Because it's an easy run I tried to keep the run very comfortable. My pace average ended up being 10:10 and I enjoyed the run. This completes my first week of training. Feels good to be on my way to 13.1 miles.
I didn't incorporate strength training in this week. I actually decided to take the week off from weight lifting [though I said I was going to finish off Livefit Trainer - I didn't]. But I'll be back to it this week. Though I have to change some things around because I'm traveling Tuesday morning so I am going to make Tuesday a rest day from running instead of wednesday and then do weight lifting today [Monday] and Thursday. Normally I want my weight training days to be on Tuesday and Thursday. Just two days a week. Full body.

If you've done one, what's your favorite memory from your first half marathon TRAINING?
