Half Marathon Training Week 2, Done!

Week 2 of my Half Marathon training was all done while I was away in Virginia and DC/Maryland! I had so much fun running in new locations and sceneries. I've never done that really!!

Monday was a full rest day.  & resting I did do! So Tuesday of course was my first run of the week. As soon as I arrived to my hotel in Norfolk, VA I headed straight for the gym to get in my 30 mins of full body strength training. I opted for Jillian Michaels 30 day shred level 1 workout. Then right after I headed out for my 2 mile run slash sightseeing tour by foot! The weather was great even at noon! I had so much fun running along the waterside and exploring Norfolk. It was cool also seeing the Navy men and women running and chanting! 2 mile run 9:25 pace :).

Wednesday was another rest day. But I also went for a 2 mile walk - some more sightseeing of downtown Norfolk - while on my lunch break. So more of an active rest day.

Thursday morning I woke up and got in close to an hour of strength training. I did this full body Jillian Michaels workout. It was good. I also added in some Push ups and ab work at the end.

I then headed out for my 3 mile run. This time I decided to run downtown Norfolk. It was a fun run and I saw some really beautiful architecture which I loved!

A more in-depth look at my splits! I started out slower and then really sped up on my last mile!

Friday was a cross-training day. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the stationary bike. Saturday I had migrated from VA to DC/Maryland! So Saturday morning the bestie (Reecie) took me to the woods. o_O. Let me tell you all, I don't really like nature. I'm afraid of too many reptiles to really enjoy being surrounded by it. But I faced my fears and ran around in what I deem the woods. More like a really nature park. It was beautiful though. Saturday was my long run of 4 miles so I did that and then we walked almost another 2 miles around the park exploring and such! This run wasn't the greatest because my ankle started bothering me during mile 2 but I pushed through and finished strong. I started off really really good!

I started my watch and then accidentally  hit the wrong button and had to restart it. So that's why there are two different times. One is for 1.10 miles and the other 4.85 miles.

My Sunday 2.5 recovery run was a favorite of the week. I got to run with President Obama - kind of. I mean I ran around his house so that's like running with him, no? I ran around the white house and the washington monument. It was a beautiful run and I can't wait to go back to DC to run around the entire National Mall!

So that sum's up my running last week! I had a lot of fun and enjoyed this week of running! I need to go get some new running shoes. Think that is the culprit behind my ankle hurting a lot more recently!
