Nudey Tea | Quick Review

So my third teatox of 2014 was Nudey Tea.

First thing first,
this teatox has two teas. Daytime detox tea and bedtime detox tea. You take the daytime tea daily for 14 days. I drunk it after my breakfast. The bedtime tea you drink every other night for 7 nights. I drunk it 10mins to an hour before bed.

The benefits that this tea claims as per the website:
This intensive 14 day detox will assist you with your healthy eating and fitness plan to lose weight, speed up your metabolism whilst cleansing and detoxifying your digestive system.
Feel rejuvenated and energised from the inside out. A great start to a new you!
Now the review...

Honestly, I can't give a full review on this tea because of my terrible eating habits while I was taking it. However I can say these greats things about it.

  • I didn't feel bloated while drinking the tea
  • I do feel that the tea helped me not put on extra "water/bloat" wait during the holiday's
  • The tea (both of them) smelled amazeballs and taste great too sans any extra sweeteners
  • I didn't experience any "laxative" effects from the tea even though I thought I would being that my eating sucked.
  • Overall, I would try the tea again when I am eating healthy to see true results.
  • I would recommend giving it a go.
Cons.  Can't say I have any. The tea didn't make me feel jiggery or dizzy like my previous teatox did. Drinking the tea daily and every other night wasn't demanding. & like I mentioned before it taste pretty good too. My only con that's not really a con is that I didn't eat as healthy as I wish to get true results!

Here are my results:

Disclaimer: This review is based on my own thoughts of the product however Nudey Tea did send me the 14 day detox for free. I was not compensated.

Fitness Updates + Shape Up 2014 Before & After

So I joined in on an Instagram challenge through GetFitOrGetFat. It's a 60 day weight loss challenge. It started on 9.28.14 and ended today. According to the scale, I only lost 7.3lbs but I can't say I'm not happy about that. However I will say, I feel stagnant. Like I've been dangling around 162 - 165lbs for about a month or so now. I've increased my calories (because I felt they were too low and that could have been why I wasn't losing) however I am still just staying at this weight. I can't get into the 150s and it's driving me insane just a little bit. The lowest I've ever been is 156.8 so I know it is possible but for some reason.... it is just not happening for me.

I didn't really take my measurements "officially" but I did this morning  and in 4 weeks, I will officially do another measurement. Hopefully even if my weight doesn't drop, the inches do! I also went on Tuesday morning to get my body fat measured through the Bod Pod which is suppose to be about 98% accurate. My scale told me I'm 30 -32% but I'm actually less than that. I am 27.9% body fat which places me in the moderately lean category. Yay! My goal by february is to be less than 25% or really close.

Beginning Dec 1, I want to start doing a more strict 40/40/20 "diet". Meaning 40% carbs  40% protein, and 20% fat. Right now I've been doing 50/25/25. So maybe this could be the issue but one this is for sure... eating 40% protein is going to be hard work. Lots of eggs and protein shakes are in my future I suppose and 6oz of lean meat instead of 4oz. I'm hoping this change helps me to retain more muscle and burn off the fat. I think my struggle is still with how many calories I should be eating a day. It's so scary to keep upping my calories but I know it's trial and error. Right now my goal is 1500 net calories a day regardless if I workout or not.

Here are my measurements as of 11.26.14

Neck: 12.7
Chest[not bust]: 34
Right Arm: 10.8
Left Arm: 11.1
High waist (natural waist): 28.3
Low waist (at belly button): 32.5
Hips: 39.2
Right Thigh: 21.7
Left Thigh: 21.7
Right Calf: 13.2
Left Calf: 13.4
Weight: 163.4

Anyway that is all for now. Here are pics from this Shape Up 2014 Challenge.

Happy early Thanksgivings!! Have a great day <3

Yourtea | TinyTea - 28 day teatox | Review

Thank you to the heavens above, those 28 days are up!

Okay so I have completed my 2nd teatox. This one was by the company YourTea and it is called Tiny Tea. I purchased the 28 day teatox. Let me tell you... I don't think I ever want to do another 28 day teatox again. I love tea. I really do. But Jesus, Joseph, and Mary was it annoying having to drink 3 cups of tea a day. Maybe if it was 1 cup a day, and then 2 cups every other day or something like that it wouldn't have been so draining to my soul. But I got so annoyed having to 1) Remember to drink it 30 minutes before I was ready to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner and 2) Having to drink it 3 times a day. Granted I missed drinking it a 3x a day a few days but I always at least drunk it twice.

So let's talk about my overall feelings about the tea and how it worked for my body. I think it worked well. I didn't bloat much and I can see a difference in the results. Energy wise, can't say I paid much attention to it. Like I said on the review at the halfway point of this teatox, I am pretty energized already just from what I eat and working out. Towards the end I started getting symptoms I had in the beginning - feeling weird, lightheaded and a little nauseated post drinking of the tea. I also experienced this when I first started drinking the tea for the first few days. Also I had a couple tummy aches back to back during my last week of drinking the tea. Now I can't say if the tea caused it or not but just stating the facts.

Would I recommend this tea? Honestly, if you don't mind the demand of having to drink the tea 3 times a day, then sure. I recommend you to try it. However, if I do another teatox, I think I would go back to flat tummy tea. That is my preference. I like drinking it only ever morning and then every other night or every third night. I also think I prefer the taste of flat tummy tea and liked that it was loose leaf tea.

P.S. I still have about 12 bags of the tea left. From days when I missed drinking it. I will save those from tough times during the holiday. But I just couldn't continue on LOL.

Here are my before and afters!

These results of course are with working out 5x a week and eating healthy 85% of the time.

OTF: Challenge COMPLETE!

I have successfully completed the 6 week challenge and my final weight wasssss:

162.6!!!

Before and After pics :)

This week, I got to learn to improve on my rowing. We had a class this past saturday and I learned how to row correctly and more effectively so that I would burn more calories and row more efficiently. It was a lot of fun learning how to do it the right way and I went from usually rowing barely 160 watts to being able to row close to 300 watts. My goal by November is to row more than 300 watts. I'm on my elite type ish! Other than that my workouts were good as usual. I worked out on Thursday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. Saturday wasn't a true workout just the rowing workshop though I still burned almost 200 calories. I had planned on working out on Tuesday as well but my stomach wasn't having it and I had to rest and feel better instead.

Though the challenge is over, I am still going to be working hard core towards my goal weight and body. I'm going to get there. I know I will.

Food wise, I've increased my intake to 1500 calories with me having to eat at minimum 1200 net calories every day. I ate pretty healthy but I did bake some chocolate muffins on Thursday and I've had about 4 of them since them. They are only 95 calories per muffin and pretty much are healthy ingredients. Click here for the recipe! I also had a sushi night out with my friends but it was well deserved :).

Tiny Teatox - Halfway point.

In my last post regarding my first teatox, I mentioned I was starting another one in a week. Well that week has come and gone and I just completed 14 days with YourTea Tiny Teatox. Unlike my first teatox, this one is 28 days and not 14. It is also a lot more demanding which I can't say I love. About two days in, I wish I had only gotten the 14 day teatox.

I mean I love tea. I'm a teahead but drinking 3 cups of tea every day is overkill, even for me. Especially because you have to kind of time it according to when you plan to eat as you are suppose to drink the tea 30 mins before or after each main (breakfast, lunch, dinner) meal. I drunk mine 30 minutes before. So if you have a super busy schedule you might only be able to drink it twice a day.

So let's get down to it. 14 days in, what are my thoughts. Well the ones I haven't already listed I guess LOL.

The flavor. Strong but I like it. Sometimes I put a tsp of honey when I want it a little sweet but most times I just drink it as is which is strong LOL. If you're not a tea drinker you might need some sweetener like honey or stevia.

Side effects. My first few days of drinking the tea I felt weird after drinking it. Maybe even a tiny bit nauseated but it only last about 5 to 10 minutes. I don't feel this way any longer when I drink it.

Laxative effect? The tea claims to not have any ingredients that would cause a laxative effect however it will make you clean out your system. Meaning you might go more "regular" if you don't already. Personally I didn't have any problems as I am already pretttty regular (TMI - sorry not sorry we all poop people!)

Bloat. I must say this is my favorite part with these detox teas and this one is no exception. Throughout this whole 14 days, I haven't felt bloated once and this past week I was even on my menstrual. I also (though can't say if it is the tea) didn't experience any cramping. However some cravings were still there but no feelings of being bloated or that dreaded "fat" feeling.

Energy. I can never tell with these teas if my energy is different. I think I am pretty energized as can be (with waking up at 5:30am on most days). So can't really comment on that.

So I think that is all. I will continue the process of course. 14 more days to go. Hope I can stay dedicated. So far I have only missed drinking the tea three times.

Before I end, I know what you've been waiting for and here it is. Before and "during". This is of course with healthy eating and working out 5 times a week.

OTF: Week 5 Update! 1 more week!

Week 5 is come and gone! This week I felt some anxiety. Not a lot but a little.

I think it is because the competition is reaching the end. No times for mess ups or slip ups. My eating this past week was pretty great I would say. I had my "cheat meals" on Thursday. I ate about 1800 calories that day out of my allotted 1770 (1200 budgeted calories + 570 exercise calories). So yes I went over a bit but not much. What I called my cheat meals were Amy's Spinach Pizza - so yummy! and while I was watching Shonda Thursday's with the boyfriend and friends, I had 2 cookies and 1 small scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was all delightful in my tummy.

For cheat meals I don't always feel the need to have completely unhealthy food. Usually I'm not even craving that. But sometimes things that aren't really unhealthy are still higher in calories so I tend to avoid them to stay within my daily calorie budget so I consider them my cheat meals when in essence most people would be like that is not even a cheat meal lol!

Other than that I ate pretty clean all week. Proud of myself. However, I still managed to gain .2lbs. I'm not totally bummed. I'm on my menstrual this week and hoping that is why I am holding on to this weight and next week at the final way in I will blow them away with a 5lb weight loss. Yes that is what I am hoping for :).
Also the problem could be I am not eating enough on my workout days. Prior to tuesday, my net calories averaged about 750. For those of you who don't know what net calories is:

Budgeted calories + food consumed calories - exercise burned calories = Net calories
Ex. 1200 budgeted + 1335 food consumed - 563 exercise = 773 net calories for that day.

Now there is a huge debate about whether or not you should eat back the calories your burn while exercising so that your net calories is at least 1200. This is so your body won't go into starvation mode and slow your metabolism down causing you not to lose any weight. So maybe just maybe I need to start making sure I am consuming enough on my workout days to at least get to 1200 net calories.
I plan on doing that this week and hopefully it positively effects my weight loss.
Anywhoooo back to OTF....

I have been pushing myself. That is what I truly love about Orange Theory Fitness. I feel like I've never really pushed myself like this. Especially being that I am able to work on my speed and inclines on the treadmills. Though I have done a bootcamp before, we weren't able to do that because we didn't have such machines. I really see myself reaching my goal body in a few months if I stick with OTF!

Oh and craziness of the week. On Saturday I get to my workout and come to find out most of the electricity is not working. So we didn't use our heart rate monitors (so you won't see a report below) because the TVs weren't working, some of the treadmills were down, and to top it off, THE AIR CONDITIONER DIDN'T WORK.  Talk about an intense workout. I didn't think I was gone make it LOL. I felt like my trainer was apart of B613 (Scandal reference) and we were his next victims.

My face after the workout.

On a less killer note, I upped my base pace to 6.5mph. I am also able to do 10.5mph all outs for 1 min. I be flying! If I really push myself for the 30 second all outs I can put the speed at 11mph. I am slowly working my way up to 12mph for the 30 second all outs. I hope to reach this goal before the end of the year.

Another highlight is unlike last week, I nailed these workouts by maintaining a good amount of time in both green and pink zone. It is said to have nailed a workout when you spend 25 - 35 minutes in the green zone and 12 - 15 minutes in the orange (currently pink) and red zone combined.

OTF: Week 4 Update!

Week 4 is donnneee!!! This week I was determined to improve myself.

After gaining weight last week I knew I had to go the distance this week. Eating super clean and getting out of my comfort zone in the workouts. I've definitely been pushing myself in the workouts because as you will see I have been heavy in the 'pink' zone. The orange zone has been temporarily changed to the pink zone in honor to raise Breast Cancer Awareness :)! .

I think I ate super healthy this week and only had a 'cheat meal' on Thursday when I went out to lunch with my co-workers. I had this amazing veggie burger. Veggie burger isn't really unhealthy but the bun ..... yeah that bun. Then I got zucchini fries instead of regular fries. Sadly I wish I had gotten regular or sweet potato fries because I did not like the zucchini fries at all! But I guess that is good.... being that they were lightly fried.

I was able to do a 6.4 base pace this week. Next week I'm upping to 6.5 - 6.6. I definitely think I am getting much faster and can't wait to get back to running to really see the improvement in my speed. However I don't want to push myself too much because I do want to make sure that I am spending enough time in Zone 3 during my workouts so that I am burning that fat all the way off! Burn baby burrrrrn!

I guess my body just lost its footing and had to readjust itself because this week it showed out with my weight lost! 6lbs! I have to keep this up. I'm so close to being back in the 150s. My goal is to lose 5 more pounds by the end of this challenge which is 2 weeks from today (Oct. 23 is the big day)! I have to stay focus and keep pushing! No more weight gains!
