This week's Bombshell is Ronni who has lost 80lbs!
Her transformation is amazing and she did it all by herself with hardwork and dedication. She's a single mother with a full time job who still makes time for her health by doing boot camps, crossfit, and weight lifting!
Height: 5'6
Highest Weight: I was 245 at the heaviest I weighed myself but was at least another 10 pounds heavier.
Current Weight: I currently weigh in at 165. My lowest was 155, but have evened out to 160-165 depending on the day.
What factors contributed to the weight gain? I always had an issue with food. I wasn’t overweight in high school, but soon after graduation weight slowly came on, but during my pregnancy with Isaiah, my second child, it really amplified. I started out at a healthy weight and gained at least 80 lbs while pregnant. In the past, I have done weight watchers, but gained the weight back. Brought all kinds of exercise DVD’s that just sat collecting dust. Tried all sorts of crash diets that initially showed results, but when stopped gained everything back and then some.
What motivated you to lose the weight? What prompted the lifestyle change was the picture above. Like most people, I was in denial about how I actually looked. That photo of me sitting on the curb was at a 4th of July parade and my mom took it. I hadn’t seen the picture before and my mom finally developed the pictures around Easter. I saw that picture of myself and decided it had to change. I got a membership to the Y and the rest is history. I have kept the weight off for 3 years.
How long did it take you to lose the weight? It took me a good year to lose all the weight. Always a work in progress, though. The first 40 came off rather quickly, like 3 months, the other 40 took major dedication.
What are your eating habits like now and then? Are you vegan or paleo (she's a crossfitter so I had to ask!) or anything? I haven't tried any of the diets, although I have been checking into Paleo. I just ate lots of lean meats and whole wheats. Everything I could use whole wheat for I did. Like pasta and bread. I have a protein shake in the morning. If I eat subway for lunch, I double my meat and stick to a 6 inch. I enjoy a spoonful of peanut butter as a snack.
Were any weight loss aids (i.e surgeries, pills, herballife, etc) used to assist in your journey to a better you? No weight loss aids. Did my research and tried hard.
Do you have a quote, mantra, or something that you live by? Well, when I first started doing bootcamp or later in crossfit, I would walk in and tell myself , "I can do anything for an hour". I would repeat as needed during the workout and feel so great when I would leave. I also am of the opinion “tough is a choice”.

Wow! Congratulations, Ronni! You look amazing - all that hard work definitely paid off.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, hard work, but also fun work. Exercise is not only good for the body, it is good therapy for the soul :)
ReplyDeleteRonni! You look AMAZING!!! I also am SO impressed that you have kept the weight off for 3 years, one of my biggest fears is that one day I'm going to fall off the bandwagon again and have to start all over!!!

My sissy! Proud of her :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Congratulations to Ronni, she looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove hearing of women get strong and healthy the right way with no major restrictive diets or pills or anything :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab transformation! Ronni, I love that you just dug your heals in and didn't try any quick fixes to lose your weight. That's so awesome! Crossfit looks sooo hard, I'm lucky that there's not a box around here so I can get out of it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for sharing a realistic time frame for the weight loss. So many don't understand that it took more than a day to put it on so it'll take more than a day to take it off.
