The Liebster award! What is it exactly?


The Liebster Award is an award for bloggers by bloggers. When you’re nominated for the award, you answer a set of questions asked by the blogger who nominated you and then nominate 11 other bloggers, and give those bloggers a set of questions to answer.  It’s a fun insight into the mind of your fellow bloggers.
I have been nominated for this award once before because because I suck have bad memory, I forgot to do it but this time, I refused not to because I am honored (once again) that someone thought of little ol' me! So let's get this party started...

1. In honor of spring, what is your favorite outside activity? Running in the morning when it's still isn't scorching hot and if I was near one - beach days would be awesome but pools have to work!

2. Why did you start blogging? I felt like I had a story to tell and my story could inspire others. Also I wanted to help myself stay accountable of these and also I love to write in general.

3. What is the furthest distance you have run/walked/hiked/walked? 13.1 miles. But technically if you add in all the walking to the start line, from the start line, etc it was about 15 miles that day.

4. I love to grill.  Do you prefer to host a cookout or be invited to them? The only grilling I do is on my George Forman and I am not sure if that really counts. Even if it does - I would def rather be invited! But I don't mind hosting if I don't have to do the cooking. :)

5. Name one gadget you cannot live without.  This can apply to any part of your life. ONE?! There are so many. So I'm breaking the rules. I can't live without my handy dandy cellphone, my garmin, my Macbook Pro, and my water bottle. I mean I can probably survive without them - but I'd be bored out of my life.

6. What was your first car? Loved it? Hated it? I loved my first car. It was a 1997 Toyota Corolla. She was gold. I called her Skittles. She and I went through a lot before I had to give her away to the junk car people.

7. How many places have you lived? House wise? 7! 3 while I was growing up and 4 since I left the nest!  Cities? 2 cities. 1 state!

8. What would be your dream vacation? My dream vacation would allow me to travel the entire world. Hopefully one day that will be possible! Until then my dream vacation will be a reality very soon! I am going on a 30 day trip all across Europe in June! I am sooo excited!

9. If you could describe yourself in one word, what would that be? afreakinawesomeamazinspirationalsauce

10. Do you have a theme song? When I read this for some unknown reason "Go Go power rangers" jumped into my head… but no, no I don't think I do.

11. Do you prefer to sit and read or watch movies? Name your favorite. I love to curl up with a good book but I love a good movie too! & I love a good book that becomes a good movie {Like Divergent & Hunger Games, etc} ! I have many favorite books and movie but I will name one of each and not be a rebel. Book: The Art of Racing In The Rain Movie: Friends With Benefits.

50 Shades of Fit! Fitness to me is...




What is the 50 Shades of Fit Featured Blogger Series? First read this post.

Fitness is defined differently for everyone. There truly are (more than!) 50 shades of fit in this world and as long as you’re incorporating fitness into your life in a healthy way for the right reasons, then you’re doing it right! 

Fitness doesn’t have an end point. It isn’t a mountain that you can get to the top of. It’s a continuum that we’ll all be on for the rest of our lives and no one place on it is better than any other. Instead of criticizing, judging, or ridiculing others based on where they are, we should be lifting each other up, encouraging each other, and congratulating each other for making choices to stay healthy, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

So take a moment to appreciate where you are on your own fitness journey and try to remain positive and tolerant of where other people are on theirs. The 50  Shades of Fit Featured Blogger Series is a way to celebrate some of the diverse definitions of fit in our society! 

Currently, what does ‘fit’ mean to you in your own life? Fit to me means feeling good physically, mentally, and emotionally. Fit to me means being happy about my body and strength. Fit to me in my life is being able to run 13.1 miles and constantly improving my running. Fit to me in my life means enjoying my journey and never giving up and always getting back on the wagon (if I happen to fall off for a little bit). Fit to me in my life means finding fun ways to stay active! Fit to me means maintaining my weight loss.  

When did you initially get more interested in incorporating health and fitness into your lifestyle? 2010 is when I decided it was time to take better care of my body so that I could be happy, healthy, and fit.

What are some of your favorite ways to get moving? Running is by far number one but I also like dancing! I always think of dancing as just a fun way to expand my horizons and not think of it too much as a "workout". I love to belly and pole dance!

In what ways do you inspire and encourage others to add some sort of fitness to their own lives? I think I inspire people by blogging, tweeting, facebooking, and instagraming about my fitness endeavors! I have had a lot of people tell me that my posts (on all networks) have motivated and inspired them to get up and get moving! I always think that's amazing. I also try to remind people that fitness doesn't mean you have to go to the gym it just means getting active!

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is just starting their fitness journey and exploring what works for them? Enjoy the journey. Don't force yourself to do things you don't like. If you find yourself dreading going to the gym, then maybe working out at the gym isn't for you. If you get bored running, maybe running isn't for you! Find what works for you! For me I had to learn I can't do those 30 - 60 - 90 day theme things like Insanity / P90x because I get way to bored and unmotivated with doing the same workouts! Find fun ways to workout your body and get active. Also variety is key! Try new things and switch things up every so often!
