50 Shades of Fit! Fitness to me is...

What is the 50 Shades of Fit Featured Blogger Series? First read this post.

Fitness is defined differently for everyone. There truly are (more than!) 50 shades of fit in this world and as long as you’re incorporating fitness into your life in a healthy way for the right reasons, then you’re doing it right!

Fitness doesn’t have an end point. It isn’t a mountain that you can get to the top of. It’s a continuum that we’ll all be on for the rest of our lives and no one place on it is better than any other. Instead of criticizing, judging, or ridiculing others based on where they are, we should be lifting each other up, encouraging each other, and congratulating each other for making choices to stay healthy, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

So take a moment to appreciate where you are on your own fitness journey and try to remain positive and tolerant of where other people are on theirs. The 50  Shades of Fit Featured Blogger Series is a way to celebrate some of the diverse definitions of fit in our society!

Currently, what does ‘fit’ mean to you in your own life? Fit to me means feeling good physically, mentally, and emotionally. Fit to me means being happy about my body and strength. Fit to me in my life is being able to run 13.1 miles and constantly improving my running. Fit to me in my life means enjoying my journey and never giving up and always getting back on the wagon (if I happen to fall off for a little bit). Fit to me in my life means finding fun ways to stay active! Fit to me means maintaining my weight loss.

When did you initially get more interested in incorporating health and fitness into your lifestyle? 2010 is when I decided it was time to take better care of my body so that I could be happy, healthy, and fit.

What are some of your favorite ways to get moving? Running is by far number one but I also like dancing! I always think of dancing as just a fun way to expand my horizons and not think of it too much as a "workout". I love to belly and pole dance!

In what ways do you inspire and encourage others to add some sort of fitness to their own lives? I think I inspire people by blogging, tweeting, facebooking, and instagraming about my fitness endeavors! I have had a lot of people tell me that my posts (on all networks) have motivated and inspired them to get up and get moving! I always think that's amazing. I also try to remind people that fitness doesn't mean you have to go to the gym it just means getting active!

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is just starting their fitness journey and exploring what works for them? Enjoy the journey. Don't force yourself to do things you don't like. If you find yourself dreading going to the gym, then maybe working out at the gym isn't for you. If you get bored running, maybe running isn't for you! Find what works for you! For me I had to learn I can't do those 30 - 60 - 90 day theme things like Insanity / P90x because I get way to bored and unmotivated with doing the same workouts! Find fun ways to workout your body and get active. Also variety is key! Try new things and switch things up every so often!

Now it's time for me to TAG 3 fellow Bloggers to share their own "shade of fit" that I would love to hear about!

Would you rather run in a…..??

Snatched this from Cori at Olive to Run blog.
Read on to see my quirky responses and then chime in!!

#1. Would you rather run in a thunderstorm or a snowstorm? See I already want to choose neither. But in good spirit I will make a choose. I say thunderstorm. I almost said snowstorm but I don't want to freeze to death. Though with a thunderstorm there's a possibility I would get struck by lightening. Oh no. I think I'm changing my answer to snowstorm. Long as I have on thermal clothing. But let's be honest, I'm a floridian. I have no clue what's it like to run in snow but CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

#2. Would you rather breathe through your nose or breathe through your mouth? My nose. I hate when I have to breathe through my mouth when I am sick and I feel like I'm just sitting with my mouth open waiting for a fly to fly inside!
#3. Would you rather do 100 squats or 100 crunches? [Now take a break and go do them. ;)] Squats! I actually hate ab work. I really do. I need to get better at it. So I probably should do 100 crunches this very instance. Ahhhh but I won't.
#4. Would you rather have a baked good for dessert or an extra serving of your favorite entree? Baked good for sure. I love sweets. It's my downfall. Mmmm this made me think of apple pie. That's such a lovely baked good.

#5. Would you rather run on a treadmill for an hour or run around the same street block for an hour? I would happily run around that same street block for an hour like a hamster! Ugh I hate running on the treadmill. At least I would have some scenery. Even if it's repetitive. And I hate running in circles as well but I hate the dreadmill even more!
#6. Would you rather have a headache during a run or a side stitch? Oh this is a toughie. I've never had a headache during a run but I have had side stitches and they suck monkey balls. If I had a bad headache I wouldn't even go running. So I guess I'd rather have a side stitch. I can usually push through them or walk a little and do deep breathing if I have too!
#7. Would you rather have a rest day on a work day or a day off? On a work day! My rest day is actually Monday! I really like having it on a work day because then I know after work I can just relax. On a day off I have enough free time to get in a good workout and still relax so it's kind of like a rest day in a way if that makes since. So definitely prefer resting on a work day!
#8. Would you rather be a race director or a race volunteer? I would love to be a race director one day. I think it will be amazing stressful but fun and a great experience. I have volunteered at a race before and that was fun as well but I would love to see what all goes into planning and executing a race.
#9. Would you rather spend your money on running gadgets [HRM, GPS watch, Headphones] or running shoes?  Another toughie!! Gosh I really don't know. I love gadgets though. So I guess I'll go with gadgets. Gotta have my good music and love my awesome GPS watch. But don't get me wrong, I love good shoes too just starting to get more into them but gadgets…. yes.
#10. Would you rather run in a relay or do the run portion of a distance triathlon? I have no clue how long the distance portion is in a triathlon and I'm too lazy to look it up so therefore by default I'm going with running a relay. I did one recently and it was fun and I look forward to doing another one in march!

your turn.
Would you rather…. run with a running group or run solo?
