Going with the flow.

Hey lovelies. It's been a stressful past few days and because of that I haven't had time to really do my last couple tapering runs of 20 minutes. The last run I did was on Tuesday. 2 miles.  Was supposed to do 20 mins on Wednesday and today as well. I'll be traveling back to Orlando today so not sure if I'll get those 20 mins in or not.  Sounds so easy to squeeze in but I'm so tired.  Can't really sleep like I would like too. But tonight I will get a full nights rest as well as tomorrow.  I'm not going to worry myself that I didn't get to taper run because I know that I trained and already ran 13.1 only 2 weeks again and I know that I can do it again.  I may not push myself as hard this run but regardless I will enjoy it and go with the flow. I've heard great things about these Women's Running series races and expect it to be awesome.  Speaking of races, today is the last day to register for the Nike Women's Half Marathon in DC on April 27th (or 24th eh). This is the race that everyone calls the "Tiffany" race because this series is known to give out Tiffany necklaces at the end as the finishers medal.  So I'm still debating.  It's highly pricey so I have until 6pm to decide.  What do you think?

Running accomplishments.

This month has been full of running accomplishments. Some may seem small to others but they're all BIG to me.

My first ever 5K was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure last October. Which means my first accomplishment this month was being that I had been running and doing races consistently for an entire  year.  When I ran this race last year I finished somewhere between 32 and 33 mins. This year.... wait for it... I finished in 27:33!! My fastest 5K EVER!

Before this it was 28:27. I did a sub 9 pace. I felt so awesome afterwards. I mean after I sat on the ground for a bit and regained consciousness.  & yes my tutu was awesome.

Afterwards I treated myself to a LOVELY breakfast.

My next accomplishment was the Track Shack U Can Finish 5 miler and 2 miler. This race was my first race EVER last year. I only did the 2 mile race last year because let's face it I was scared of doing a 5K. So I went with just 2 miles. Well this year I did the Distance dare. 7 miles. I finished the 5 miler in 46:28. Not too shabby. 9:17 pace. Last year I finished the 2 miler in 19:01. This time I crushed that time even after running 5 miles and finished in 18:29!  Pretty proud of myself.

Last accomplishment so far this month is this past Saturday's long run! I ran 11 miles. Sub 10 minute pace. I've never run 11 miles before so I am pretty proud of that.

Next stop 12 miles then before I know it, I'll be at the starting line of my first half marathon. *looks over at the countdown* It's a comin'..

Just keep running, running, running!

Fall is here and that means race season is in full effect!
For me it starts this Sunday!!
September makes it one year since I began running consistently. October makes it 1 year since I started doing races. I'm really excited about my race schedule this year and it goes as follows.

October 6 - Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Run - 5K
Love supporting good causes like this! I'll be wearing a Tutu and my Run-BCA shirt! I'm running this race with my running group, BGR! I had so much fun last year and I'm sure this year will be no different!!

October 12 - NSU [My School] Inaugural 5K Fun Run - 5K
My school is putting on their first 5K. I decided I would support because hey it's free so why not!
It's probably not timed or anything but they're giving out some nice goodies.

October 13 - U Can Finish 5 miler and 2 miler - Distance Dare - 7 miles
This was my first race. Which makes me so excited to do it again. On top of that it's at my Alma Mater University of Central Florida and that makes it icing on the cake :)! Last year because it was my first race ever, I only did the 2 miler but this year I'm going all out and doing the 2 miler as well as the 5 miler. It's the distance dare! I'm going to bring it!

Nov 10 - Allstate Life Insurance Fort Lauderdale 13.1  - 13.1 miles
My first half marathon!! The day I have been training for! I'm excited, nervous, more excited. Less then 6 weeks to go. This is the first of the Florida Series races I will be doing. If you do 3, 4, 5 Florida Series races you get these extra awesome medals! So far I'm signed up for 3 of them.

Nov 24 - Women's Running Series Half - St. Petersburg!! 13.1 miles
My second half marathon. Just two weeks later o_O. Oh gosh. I don't know what I was thinking when I signed up for them both on the same day. It was the National running day itch.
I'm really excited for this one too because I heard it's really nice and just a great race!

Dec 8 - Palm Beach Marathon & Run Fest - 7.9 miles
And yet another 2 weeks later. I am doing a Marathon Relay [I know you couldn't think I was doing a Marathon!]. I am doing the last leg, 7.9 miles. I am doing this with my 3 of my BGR sisters. Our team is called the Pavement Queens and I'm Queen Preshii! This is my 2nd Florida Series race.

Rest forever. No more races until Feb. My next half mary. I'm lowkey crazy.

I would like to add in a Turkey trot on Thanksgiving (but not sure how my legs will feel after 2 practically back to back half mary's but it'll just be a 5K so I shall be fine) and a christmas theme race during december.

Half Marathon Training has began! Week 1. Done.

Monday I started my half marathon training. A week earlier than expected but I'm excited. Monday was a rest day (dubbed the foam roller / extra stretching day of my training weeks!) on the training schedule I'm using so my first run wasn't until Tuesday. A short and sweet 2 mile run.  I was really happy with my pace average of 9:27!

Shopping at ikea is like returning to therapy.

Happy Father's Day!
to the fathers, the daddies, those acting as fathers, those playing both roles as mother & father. You are appreciated.
 Happy Sunday!

I had a great Saturday. A little bit of yoga, a little bit of love, a little bit of ice cream.. all so much fun.

On Friday, I finished my last workout of Livefit Trainer Phase 1. 1 phase down, 2 more to go.

I worked my shoulders and abs hard on Friday too.

I mean it may had something to do with the fact that I knew I was having pizza last night. Yeah see Pizza hut had this deal. Large pizza for $5.55 to celebrate their anniversary. Now c'mon. I'm not saying no to that. So I planned a movie and pizza night for me and le boyfriend. It was great. I convinced him to watch Spirit of the Marathon with me. I hadn't heard about this movie until a couple weeks ago when someone told me about the 2nd one that premiered for one night only on Wednesday. I wasn't able to go but was told the 1st one was on Netflix. So I had to check it out. Can you say inspiring and awesome! I can't wait to cross that finish line one day and become a marathoner. Ahhh I can taste it.
